TNB REMACO operates an advanced Repair Centre, where operations are structured on the concept of One-Stop repair and refurbishment, providing further convenience and better response time for the company’s customers. Our Repair Centre has structural component repair capability, offered independently as well as jointly with OEMs through agreements on technical collaboration. An MOU exists with ALSTOM while reconditioning work for Siemens is carried out independently of the OEM.

Refurbishment of GE Stationery Component

Repair Centre is accredited with General Electric under a Technology Transfer Agreement. It has capabilities of refurbishment work of Frame MS 5001B, MS 6001B and MS 9001E GE gas turbine stationary components. The components include nozzles, shroud blocks, transition pieces, combustion liners, crossfire tubes and bullhorns.

Activities are supported by the following units:
Special Process Unit
Provide Special Processes services to Production Unit, such as: 

  • Heat Treatment
  • Thermal Coating
  • Meallurgical Analysis
  • Blasting
  • Fuel Nozzle Calibration

QA/QC Unit
The unit carry out the activities such as assessing the reparability of gas turbine stationary components, verifying all incoming materials/parts, performing Non-Destructive Testing (Dye Penetration), mapping detected defects and evaluation of coating test pieces through Metallurgical Laboratory analysis prior to application of Thermal Barrier Coating.

Bucket Unit
This unit is responsible in executing refurbishment works for the following components:

  • GE Turbine Bucket
  • ABB TuLa & TuLe
  • Siemens Stationary and Rotary Blade
 
Reconditioning of Structural Component

The Structural Team is responsible in executing refurbishement of Silo Combuster components also known as Structural Components (i.e ABB Hot Casing and Siemens Mixing Chamber). Besides, the Structural Team is also entrusted to carry out new services such as K-ring refurbishment and Steam Turbine nozzle repair and also non-core works such as compressor recoating. The purpose of refurbishment is to rejuvenate the component so that it can withstand another service cycle. Most of the component made of Inconel 617, a nickel alloy based which can withstand high temperature of gas turbine.
Our scopes are as follow:

ABB Gas Turbine

  • Inner liner 13E1
  • Inner liner 13D3/M
  • Hot Gas Casing 13D3/M

Siemens Gas Turbine

  • Mixing Chamber V94.2
 
Machine Shop
REMACO Repair Centre “Machining Section” has set up a new machine shop with total of 16 heavy machines. Apart from doing GE Stationary component, we have the capabilities in machining other components such as TOSHIBA, MHI, SIEMENS, PARSON and others.
 
Site Team
The Site Team is responsible in executing site repair works. The team works closely with the REMACO Maintenance Services for both the major and minor gas turbines overhauls. The team posses full capabilities on welding repair works including gouging, grinding, NDT dye-penetrant test and fabrication of spares.
